Google has just released instant search - the results list in Google changes and refines itself as you type your search query.

You'll only see the results changing if you are viewing Google on it's results page with the search box at the top. In fact, users who don't touch type may not even notice instant search at all!

Instant search could benefit long-tail searching - i.e. longer search queries, such as "Web design in Horsham, West Sussex" rather than "Web design Horsham". This could continue to alter and refine the results, but by how much remains to be seen.
Google will no doubt let us know as they collect results and post them in their blogs.
