HootSuite is a great tool for quickly updating your social media pages simultaneously.

It is an hosted service (you log into their site to use it), so there is no need to install a desktop application. Registration is free and it's very quick and easy to get up and running.

Currently we are using it to update our Facebook page, Twitter feed and LinkedIn page.

You simply add the social media sites that you wish to use and give HootSuite permission to update them. Then at the top of HootSuite you simply compose your message, choose which social media sites to update and hit "Send Now" to publish your new content.

The first tab contains the HootSuite family and Featured Tweeps, while the other tabs contain your Twitter feed, Facebook pages etc.
Twitter also has a pane for your Twitter mentions, Direct Messages and Pending Tweets. Facebook shows your page feed and pending stream posts.

Other Social Networks can be added and each have their own customisation options.
